My boy!
ISO 100, 100mm, f/8, 1/160
Key light: 40cm x 40cm Softbox, camera left
Backlight: 66cm x 66cm softbox (made into a strip-light with some black cardboard)
Here's one of our son Oliver. I tried a few things with the lighting, but it wasn't really happening, so I adjusted the angle of the key light from straight on just above to off axis, camera left probably around 45 degrees and adjusted the backlight power to get even light throughout the scene and subtle / soft rim light. I just need him to help me out by lifting up his head now. Still like the shot - most of the shoot he was just happy to bury his face into the bed :)
Still will be searching for my "go to" baby lighting setup though.

Statue Of Liberty
Taken at the foot of the statute.
Its an HDR composite from a single image but I thought it benefited from monochrome. I added a little grain to the final image.

Interior HDR - Greek Orthodox Church
I'm not a HDR expert, but I thought I'd put up an HDR that is at the opposite end of the spectrum to Karl's earlier posts in terms of HDR'ness. This was from a job last weekend.
3 shot HDR, ISO 1250, 24mm, f/5.6, (1/640; 1/160; 1/40)
This was to tame the harse streams of sunlight coming through the windows to camera left. It was a hand-held shot on continuous.
I used Photomatix to create the tif; then photoshop for some curves adjustment and clone the people in the foreground back in from an original RAW file (the correctly exposed one).

Hard lighting
Not the kind of subjects that generally like hard light, but I'm testing a recent investiment in some light modifiers. In this case a HONL grid as the key light. This gives me a nice tight beam of light + feathered edges. This means total control of the background.
People subjects come next!
This one is just with the grid key light (one light)
This one is with the grid as the key, but also ring flash (Orbis) as on-axis fill probably 2.5 stops under the key.

HDR Podcast
Hey Guys,
I have recently come across a relatively old podcast (about 12 months old) that I believe is execellent listening for anyone who wants to (or is doing) any serious HDR work. This is really insightful in terms of why we either internally accept or reject HDR work as looking "real" or not and it is interesting in terms of the end-to-end process Trey uses including blending of some of the original RAW image data with the produced Photomatix HDR tone mapped image to get the result he wants.
Podcast: http://www.prophotoshow.net/blog/2009/04/14/pro-photography-podcast-57-photography-hdr-with-trey-ratcliff/

Enjoy!
